Qantas A380

Qantas A380, originally uploaded by Douglas Bailey.

There’s two things (at least) that you should know about the Qantas A380:

1) The USB port in your arm rest cannot charge the iPad while you are using it. I didn’t test the charging with the iPad off. The iPhone charges ok while in use. But, there are also power sockets for most seats, (3 sockets in a row of 4 seats.) You could use those to charge your iPad or laptop if need be. If you can reach all the way down there under the seat!

2) The Sky Camera View – pictured above at sunrise – is amazing. It’s mounted on the top of the tail giving a great view of take-off and landing and even an interesting view of taxi-ing (sp?) to the terminal after landing. So you can see how long the line of planes waiting to dock is.

On my SYD-LAX flight of 13hrs I had an aisle seat and a spare seat next to me. However I didn’t sleep, so was awake for 32 hours on Thursday!
